Many people would love to have a new window treatment option installed. However, many homeowners balk at this idea for several reasons. One: they think that the price of window shades would be way beyond their means. Two: they are not particularly sure if they want to deal with the hassles of maintaining their new window treatments. And lastly, many people are concerned that their window shades would be so drab, that these might not improve their interior d cor at all.

As such, it is now fairly easy to see why many homeowners are opting for roller shades instead. Roller shades, also called roller blinds, are: very affordable, easy to maintain, easy to install, and come in an assortment of materials, designs, colors and styles that choosing a set to accentuate any space should be a breeze. Despite other choices in the market, more and more homeowners seem to be gravitating towards Roman shades and green shades. Here are the reasons why.

Go Roman! Roman shades are very classy and have never really lost their appeal. Instead of rolling the fabric into an overhead spool, Roman shades gently pull up the sleeve of the fabric to create a stacked up design. Roman shades are almost always fabric, which means that you can throw these in the washing machine if they are need cleaning. (Encase the blinds in a pillowcase first so that the cord does not get entangled in the machine.)

The fabric could easily be detached from the mechanism, making these easy to clean too. If you want that sophisticated touch, you might want to get light colored Roman shades that are come in either sheer or semi-sheer fabric. This will give your windows an iridescent look.

Go green! It does not matter if you want to make an environmental statement in your home, or you just want something to accentuate your wooden furniture. But getting green or organic material based roller shades is always a great way to decorate your home. Bamboo, reed and wooden strips are some of the conventional materials used in today’s line of green roller shades; but you might also want to choose the more unusual designs like rollers made from carved wood chips, grass “cloth” or woven rattan fibers.

These window shades also have several advantages over conventional fabric based window treatment options.
